The Fairy Tale
You wanted to be for me
The Prince that little girls
Dream will come someday,
To kiss them sweetly away
To
"Happily ever after."
I believed in you
Because you truly seemed
To understand a woman's
Secret visions and romance
So
few men ever see.
We played like Cinderella
And you the Prince so charming,
Incredulous were we
At finding You
and Me,
Those
summer months bewitching.
But my
Struck without a warning
And from the darkness came
The past and all its shame
You hid from me so well.
Fairy tales don't end
With tales of broken hearts
And a prince who used
A princess, without rue,
To
make another jealous.
But tears you left behind
In your haste to leave a dream,
They cannot wash away
The ecstasy sublime
Of "Once upon a time"
That lived for you and me.
