PATRICK DUNDON AND DEBORAH LYNCH.
Patrick Dundon was born in the village of Leadmore East in Kilrush about 1800 and details of his parentage are unknown.
His wife to be, Deborah,  the daughter of Michael Lynch and Bridget Moran, was born in Kilrush in 1803 and they were married in Kilrush in 1823.
They had four sons, Michael, John, Phillip, and a second Michael. Very little is known of the first born child Michael. He may have died at an early age thus, explaining the name of the youngest Michael. As a footnote, the house with small garden where Patrick and Deborah lived in The Glen was owned by  Mr Vandeluer and had a Griffith valuation of 15/. At the time the valuation was taken, there was also a Michael Lynch living there - possibly Deborah s father or brother or Patrick and Deborah may have lived with her parents after their marriage.
Deborah migrated to Australia with her two youngest sons, Phillip (24) and Michael (18) on the Barque Victory which sailed from Plymouth on 29th July 1857 and docked at Port Philip on November 4th 1857. She was listed as Deborah Dundan widow 40 years old.  In fact she was 53, but may have lowered her age and changed her name for immigration requirements. Her occupation was listed as general servant.
I can only assume that her husband Patrick had passed away prior to 1857 and she had decided to come to Australia to be with her eldest son John who had arrived about 5 years earlier and was living in Little Bourke Street Melbourne.
She later ran a lodging house in Little Lonsdale Street until her death in 1869 aged 63. According to her death certificate she died of cancer of the stomach and mouth and it has been suggested that she may have been a clay pipe smoker which was common in those days. Deborah was buried in the General Cemetery Melbourne on the 26th June 1869, the informant being G.Bruce a friend of 13 Lonsdale Street East Melbourne.
