A key element of any application development team is the quality and effectiveness of the database design and database administration (DBA) function.
We are now looking for a number of database designers and DBAs who will take responsibility for the design, tuning, implementation and administration of databases on Unix and Windows NT.

Database designers must be able to translate a complex logical data model into a physical design and build in performance and robustness from the beginning. They must be able to provide first class advice and support to application team members. Future operational requirements of the system must be considered such as performance targets and availability SLAs. Database designers who are also skilled and experienced at data modelling will be of particular interest.
Database administrators should be able to ensure that the production database operates at maximum efficiency with appropriate security and control. They will ensure that data is properly secured, both in terms of backup and access control, and be able to perform capacity planning tasks, performance monitoring and tuning and any required recovery or problem resolution.
You must have solid exposure to one of the following RDBMS and be willing to gain a level of competence in more than one:
Oracle SQL Server DB2 UDB Sybase Cross train from any other RDBMS
Cross training from other database management systems will be considered for people who can show flexibility, who have already developed a solid understanding of RDBMS technology and have implemented a number of successful production databases.
