Jim Oppedal's Prophesy Page

My Religious philosophy

Seek, and ye shall find. It's our job to seek

We only have one assumption, that NO HUMAN can predict the future with 100% reliability. Therefore, if the Bible does this, we must conclude it was written with the wisdom that is NOT HUMAN.

PROPHECY #1

Date Prophesy written: Between 742 and 687 B.C.

Prophesy

Micah 5:2 "But you, Bethleham Ephrathat, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel. whose origins are from old, from ancient times"

Fullfillment

Matthew 2:1 (Written between 60 and 65 A.D., but telling of an event that occurred around 4 B.C.) After Jesus was born in Bethleham in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem ...

Comment

In Matthew 2:3-5 describes King Herod, an enemy of Jesus, believed this prophesy.

PROPHECY #2

Date Prophesy written: Before Israel was captured by the Babylonians in 586 B.C.

Prophesy

Psalms 22:18 "They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing"

Fullfillment

Matthew 27:35 (Written between 60 and 65 A.D., but telling of an event that occurred around 4 B.C.) "When they had crucified him, they divided up his cloths by casting lots".

Comment

Why didn't the people who were executing him stop this from happening? Certainbly the High priest knew of the prophesy. There is only one answer, God made them forget.

PROPHECY #3

Date Prophesy written: Before Israel was captured by the Babylonians in 586 B.C.

Prophesy

Psalms 34:20 (First Part)"He protects all his bones, not one will be broken"

Zechariah 12:10 (Second Part)"...they will look on me, the one they have pierced..."

Fullfillment

John 19:33 (Written between 85 and 90 A.D., but telling of an event that occurred around 4 B.C.) "But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear...".

Comment

A most amazing two-part prophesy. First, he will be pierced, but second, the despite that, no bones would be broken. Ironically, the beating Jesus took before his execution weakened him to the point of dying sooner than the other two crucified with him. Because of this weakening, he died first and didn't have his legs broken. Another amazing fulfilled prophesy.
