We are not trying to get rich in this business. The many long hours of hand labour makes this a "labor of love". We are only trying to make enough money to maintain our tools , purchase quality lumber and parts so that we can keep making quality instruments for one musician at a time.
The finishes we use are; hand rubbed tung oil and hand rubbed polyurethane. These finishes give a nice glossy look to the instrument, but the look is not quite the same as a "factory" instrument. The back of the body and neck are finished with a more satin type finish.
We offer our necks without a truss rod if want to save a few dollars- These necks are extra beefy and will not "move" on you. For a charge of $30 a truss rod, we install adjustable rods and make the necks thinner. Our "thinner" necks however are still a bit thicker than necks found on factory instruments, and much stronger. Our fingerboards are flat with no radius. We find that with this approach, it is easier to get a good low playing action without buzzes.
