31 December 1945
A forecast of fresh snow and and clearing skies promised to present the Axis
forces a final opportunity to relieve their besieged forces in Budapest. Fresh
German divisions were brought by railroad to the frontline, while Russian
units dug in and awaited the battle.


1 January 1945
 Sector A3:Rebel's80Guards Rifle Division was attacked by Unit Lost's 3 SS
Panzer Division. The 217G and the 230G Rifle regiments, heavily
supported by artillery and airstrikes, relied upon a mix of minefields, bunkers,
and trenches to carry out their orders to try to stop the elite Totenkopf. Both the
 3 SS Panzer and 5 SS Panzergrenadier regiments deployed for the attack...
Sector B3: Der Panzergraf's 34 Guards Rifle Division was attacked by General
Stymiest's5 SS Panzer Division. The 103G and the 105G Rifle regiments, heavily
supported with artillery and light air cover, made extensive use of corps and
divisional engineers and confidently awaited the Wiking attack behind numerous
minefields and bunkers. Both the 5 SS Panzer and 9 SS Panzergrenadier
regiments deployed for the mission, with light air cover on call...
Sector B4: DesertRat's4 Guards Rifle Division was attacked by Oberst's96 Infantry
Division. The 3G and the 8G Rifle regiments constructed several bunkers to meet
 the challenge. Both the 283 Infantry and 284 Infantry regiments deployed for the
 attack, supported by a battalion of heavy panzers...
Sector C4: Pzkpfwivf2's 223 Rifle Division was attacked by Blitzkrieg's 8 Panzer
Division. The 883 and the 887 Rifle regiments built a few trenches to meet the
attack.  Both the 10 Panzer and 8 Panzergrenadier regiments deployed onto the
battlefield...
Sector D4: GDLive's 52 Rifle Division was attacked by Rapp's 6 Panzer Division.
The 200 and the 202 Rifle regiments awaited the 11 Panzer and 114
Panzergrenadier regiments' offensive...
Sector E3: Toten Tanz's 40G Rifle Division was attacked by TMould's 3 Panzer
and Sidorenko's 271 Infantry Divisions. The 111 and the 116 Rifle regiments hoped
a few bunkers would help to stem this awesome show of force. The 977 Infantry
Regiment, with light air support, led the way, with the 6 Panzer and 3
Panzergrenadier regiments soon joining the battle...
Sector F3: Mercur's 7 Guards Airborne Division was attacked by Krispin's 1 Panzer
Division. The 18G and the 21G Airborne Rifle regiments constructed numerous
minefields and blocks to slow the 1 Panzer and 1 Panzergrenadier regiments' drive...
Sector G3: 8ballkid's 84 Rifle Division was attacked by Mueller's 23 Panzer Division
and  Eberbach's 4 Armored Cavalry Brigade. The 79 and the 83 Rifle regiments
supplemented their valiant defense with armor assets from Corps and Division level
and several minefields. The 4 Armored Car, 23 Panzer, and 126 Panzergrenadier
regiments were heavily reinforced with numerous attachments and airstrikes...
Sector H2: Asiaticus' 69 Guards Rifle Division was attacked by The Balkan Warrior's
20 Hungarian Division. The 204G and the 206G Rifle regiments constructed
numerous minefields and light trenchwork to enhance their defenses. The 13 and
14 Hungarian regiments, supplemented with several attachments including the 509
Heavy Panzer Battalion, were an impressive spectacle as they deployed and
double-timed across the snowy fields...
Sector I2: Tiger88's62 Guards Rifle Division was attacked by Reddog's 25 Hungarian
Infantry and 1 Hungarian Cavalry Divisions. The 182G and the 184G Rifle regiments
were bolstered by awesome defensive works of trenches, bunkers, and minefields. The
2 Hungarian Cavalry and 25 Hungarian Infantry regiments, supplemented with
several German attachments, led the attack, with the 1 Hungarian Infantry
regiment arriving in support...
