| Opion Somnium: Sweing Feathers in the Flesh (Zenapolae. 2002) Like the muted whirr of helicopter's blades, Orcus emits a hovering mechanical blur while Requiem for a Dying Purpose takes a more traditional approach to darkness, with churning organ tones creeping up scales as wails and wisps accompany. Another morass of unidentifiably slurred darkness, Puddles of Diazipa (3:24) oozes through the airwaves. Softer realms of gray lead into Alseep on Ashes (11:17) where faintly jangling strings are caressed by ephemeral drones and slapped by occasionally percussive hits; the lengthy track segues into other zones of mysterious tones and mists, as well as more-musical moments which reverberate enigmatically. Moodily rippling Drop of Hemlock precedes the woozy finale', Seasick on Puddles and its droopy tuba-like riffs. This unexpected dark-ambient/ experimental release from Zenapolae could make for some nice Hallowe'en background music...More ear-trickery from the Zenapolae CD-R series.
