| Well Mr. Bush, you railroaded your tax plan through. Now I'm supposed to thank you. According to you I can take my $300 - $600 refund, pay my children's tuition of $3,200 each, and pay off my winter fuel bill of $1,400, and buy my gasoline at an average of $40.00 a week. (I don't get around much), and buy my house $65,000 and upgrade my car, $8,000, (8 year old 3 owner), and stimulate the economic growth of my nation. Please send me your calculator, mine doesn't work the way yours does. Please tell me how and when all the people who are supposed to get disaster relief checks will get paid? How are we going to pay for upgrades in our education system? How are we going to help our senior citizens pay for their medicines and proper medical care? How are we going to pay for all of the extra curricular programs to help our children stay off the streets? How are you going to pay the tobacco growers not to grow their crops if they agree? With the exception of jobs involving the destruction of our National preserves working for your friends in the oil companies, how are you going to bring about jobs for the American People? We need a national jobs program similar to the one I outlined in my letter #4.. Even though I strongly disagree with them, I applaud the Democrats who voted with their conscience and not along Party lines. I also applaud Senator Jeffords of Vermont for putting his state first and not continuing to play political games with you. If all of the members of the House and Senate voted for the needs of the country and Not the wants of the few, this would again be the greatest nation in the world. JBS |
