| PEACE FOR EASTER |
| This is the season to put down our weapons and our hate of others. I remember a few years ago, a program was tried in which a group of Arab youths and a group of Israeli youths went to a camp together. THEY LEARNED THAT THEY WERE PEOPLE ...NOT THE ENEMY. They got to know each other and observed each others customs. They realized they weren�t so different. They learned that they all wanted the same things out of life. I remember the cold war with The Soviet Union. (dating myself) We thought that all Russians wore uniforms or were in the K.G.B. The only civilians we saw were poor old people, freezing and starving and living in constant fear from anyone who even moved. After the �Iron Curtain � fell we learned that they were real flesh and blood people in the Soviet Union. They were just as scared of us as we were of them. They had regular families just like mine. They were really a nice people. It wasn�t the people we should have been afraid of, just their political leaders. I have met Iraqi people, Lebanese, Iranian, Jordanian, Egyptian, Saudi Arabians, Indian and Pakistani. They were ALL very nice people. But because of political power struggles I would never be allowed into most of these nations to visit or else I would never get out alive. It would be nice to take all the so-called �leaders� on a desert island somewhere and leave them there. Let them just sit down and break bread with their neighbors. If everyone in the world did this, we would have a really nice world to live in. HAPPY EASTER JBS |
