My Favorite Seasons
Season 5
Best in Show= 8
Platinum Level= 4
Gold Level= 8
Silver Level= 1
Bronze Level= 2
Subpar Level= 1
Best Episode: Santa Claus.
Weakest Episode: Wild World of Batwoman.

The guys were at the top of their game in year 5. Joel, the seasoned vet, is as good as he's ever been and they don't lose a step with newbie Mike at the helm. I love the variety of the movies, we get a little bit of everything: Troubled teens, Russian magic, Arch Hall Jr and our final Bert I Gordon movie!
"Batwoman" is the only experiment I didn't care for, but that episode is at least paired with a great short. This is the most consistant season, with a huge 7 ranked Best in Show. Ah yes indeed, year 5 is a beautiful thing to behold.
Season 8
Best in Show= 5
Platinum Level= 5
Gold Level= 4
Silver Level= 3
Bronze Level= 4
Subpar Level= 1

Best Episode: Jack Frost.
Weakest Episode: Incredibly Strange Creatures...

Season 8 is bound by the networks edict to stick within the sci-fi/horror parameters so there's not a lot of variety. Plus things got off to a bumpy start. But by the time they get to show 813 (Jack Frost) they never look back and put together a string of 10 solid experiments. 8 is very close to 3 but gains the edge because I simply enjoy the riffing on the A level shows more.
Season 3
Best in Show= 2
Platinum Level= 4
Gold Level= 6
Silver Level= 7
Bronze Level= 4
Subpar Level= 1
Best Episode: Pod People.
Weakest Episode: The Unearthly

Movie-wise 3 is similar to Season 8 in that they both lack a lot of variety. Season 3 is dominated by Corman, Bert I and the Sandy Frank imports. Now Three does have the better host segments - Pod People, Daddy-O, Mighty Jack are all picture perfect in that regard. And it has the edge due to the shorts. Like "Mr. B Natural" and "Appreciating Our Parents". So why does 8 beat it by a sliver? Because I'm finding that a lot of these eps don't hold up as well. While season 8'ers like "Agent for h.a.r.m" and "Party Beach" get better with age, "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" and "It Conquered the World" aren't as funny as they used to be.
Season 7
Best in Show= 1
Platinum Level= 2
Gold Level= 2
Silver Level= 2
Bronze Level= 0
Subpar Level= 0

Best Episode: Night of the Blood Beast.
Weakest Episode: Laserblast

It's impossible to know how a full season would have shaped up, but when you include the Movie, this season is near spotless. From Blood Beast to Laserblast there's not a blemish (In the theater0. Outside of the movie segments tho, the Clay/Pearl dynamic failed miserably and proves to be the "sevens" one major slip.
Season 6
Best in Show= 4
Platinum Level= 5
Gold Level= 4
Silver Level= 5
Bronze Level= 6
Subpar Level= 0
Best Episode: Beast of Yucca Flats.
Weakest Episode: Red Zone Cuba

It's a real mixed bag with grades pretty well matched across the board. The movies, with some exceptions (Girls Town) are really of the same school. Kind of dreary, grade z material. Goofy Bert I is gone and replaced by the "no fun at all" Coleman Francis. Flicks like Starfighters, Sinister Urge, Creeping Terror and the Dead Talk Back, are just a few examples of the basic "Incompetence" theme that runs through this season. The riffing swings back and forth and at times the shorts were the best part of the theater segments - Invasion USA, Diamond Head, Racket Girls receive higher rankings due to the addition of the shorts and were rescued from subpar status.
Season 9
Best in Show= 3
Platinum Level= 1
Gold Level= 1
Silver Level= 4
Bronze Level= 3
Subpar Level= 1
Best Episode: Final Sacrifice.
Weakest Episode: Delta Knights

Seasons 4, 9 and 10 are too close to call. But I'll try. Nine is boosted by 4 great episodes, Werewolf Touch of Satan and Final Sacrifice. In addition to that there's the Platinum Puma Man. Nine is a bumpy road and the grades spread across the board, but with eps like Gorgo and Hobgoblins, 9 has much to recommend it.
Season 4
Best in Show= 2
Platinum Level= 1
Gold Level= 6
Silver Level= 10
Bronze Level= 3
Subpar Level= 2
Best Episode: Monster A Go-Go.
Weakest Episode: Hercules Against the Moon Men

Four finished up strong, but is mostly stocked with solid Silver level episodes. Manos and Monster A-Go Go are the best. Human Duplicators is a lot of fun and is the only episode to reach Platinum. Sadly, there are 2 Subpar eps. This is a popular season and it's good, very good - I just like other ones better
Season 10
Best in Show= 1
Platinum Level= 2
Gold Level= 3
Silver Level= 3
Bronze Level= 2
Subpar Level= 2

Best Episode: Girl in Gold Boots.
Weakest Episode: Hamlet

The season started off well with eps like Boggy Creek, Soultaker & Moon Beast But It spiralled down at the end. I wasn't a huge fan of Diabolik and with the sub-par Spider Island and the horrid Hamlet in the mix, MST sadly limped off into the sunset.
Season 2
Best in Show= 0
Platinum Level= 0
Gold Level= 5
Silver Level= 2
Bronze Level= 5
Subpar Level= 1

Best Episode: Godzilla vs the Sea Monster.
Weakest Episode: Hellcats

I didn't care for the Ross Hagan flicks and I don't find "Catalina Caper" all that funny, but there are some outstanding experiments. Rocketship X-M, Ring of Terror, Wild Rebels and King Dinosaur all set the second season above the first. The riffing is tighter and everyone seems more comfortable in their roles. Especially Trace. His Dr. F is more demonstrative (He was a bit stiff and had that forced deep voice) and the Baby-Talk Crow is giving way to a smarter, playfully biting character.
Season 1
Best in Show= 0
Platinum Level= 0
Gold Level= 2
Silver Level= 2
Bronze Level= 6
Subpar Level= 3

Best Episode: Project Moonbase.
Weakest Episode: Aztec Mummy

The riffing is laid back and sparse. And while there are no "A grade" episodes, great laughs are still to be had. In the MST universe there are no "bad" seasons, simply different levels of excellence. I liked Josh's Servo and Joel is always Joel, he's the one guy who was always working at a high level.

9 of my least favorite episodes
I recently watched every show from 101 to 1013 for the "Riff Explanations" on my pages. And I found there were a few episodes that I avoided like the plague. I just didn't want to watch them. Here then are those rare MST eps that don't strike my fancy

1] Robot vs the Aztec Mummy
I simply don't laugh very much at all. Probably the worst of the modern era.

2] Hamlet
Unlike many eps, this one gets "Worse" with each viewing. The handful of riffs I like are now old hat, and there's nothing new that grabs me. Dull

3] Hercules Against the Moon Men
The riffs are repetitive, uninspired and unfunny. Right up there with Hamlet as an ep I can hardly sit through.

4] Wild World of Batwoman
The short is SOOO funny, but Batwoman leaves me cold. I expect to 'laugh so hard I hurt' when I watch this show. Not lose focus from indifference!

5] Incredibly Strange Creatures...
The movie gives me a headache. But I could deal with that if M&TB distracted me with hilarity. But no, for the most part, this flat out provides few laughs.

6] Horrors of Spider Island
Popular episode, but I find the riffing so weightless. I prefer a little more wit with my movies and I don't find this very funny at all

7] Delta Knights
Very few laughs. Pearl lacks comic timing and chemistry in the theater

8] City Limits
A tough one to grade. Starts off funny, but dies a painful, humorless death. I'm pretty silent during the last hour.

9] Hellcats
Not one of the gangs shining moments. The riffing is spotty though it has its high points and is climbing in the polls

But what about "Mad Monster"?
Very, VERY sparse riffing -BUT- there are a couple times where I just burst out with huge guffaws. So "Mad", while not one of the best, has a few great slivers here and there.
