Oldtown School
Back in 1925, the first graduating class was presented at the newly built Oldtown Consolidated School, having brought in all the  rural kids from individual schools.  Hazel Adams, Helen Alderton & Mary Carder proudly accepted their diplomas.
The last Graduating Class was in 2000, with 23 graduating. Some felt it nessesary to ship our kids into Cumberland, so the school was closed.
Dear High School, oft of thee we're thinking
As memories fond go trooping by
The tireless stars may cease their blinking
But thoughts of thee shall never die
And though the years steal swiftly o'er us
And winter comes with biting sting
Our hearts with youth's undaunted chorus
Shall er'er the praise of Oldtown ring

When happy high school days are ended
Out on this rugged road of life
We'll oft recall the service rendered
By teachers pulling in the flight
For always when obstructions face us
And we come blindly to a stop
With kindly guiding hands courageous
They showed us how to reach the top

OLD SCHOOL
Our beautiful new school,  sited as best maintained on the entire County, closed. Instead of redistricting  kids here,(they said it was too far to send Cumberland kids here) ours were redistricted to Cumberland's run down schools, which are now over-crowded. Figure that one out.
The school now is owned by Alumni Larry House, who has his Old School Classics & Restorations Auto Business.. He also rents  out space.
Dale's Car Care is underway, operated by Alumni Dale Mueller, phone 301-478-5153 for info.
There is an Aerobics class every week, and the gym is open for the local kids. Coming soon is a Upholstery Shop and a Furniture Restoration Shop.
Oldtown Community Center, Inc. resides in the Oldtown Library Section of the building.
Thank God for our Alumni's that have taken up the slack & made "Our Schoolhouse" the new OLDTOWN BUSINESS COMPLEX!
