In Memory of her Son, Josh

I sit by your bed and remember,
how when you were small
I would take and watch as you slept,
and when you had a fever,
I would sit with a cool cloth to your head
and whisper I love you.

As you grew older and girls
were on the top of your list..
and then the first few broke
your heart I sat on your bed and
let you talk letting you know
that the right one just hasn't come along yet.

We sat and talked of right and wrong.
And when you help fight against drugs,
I had dreams of you in police uniform,
of your wife, and of grandchildren.

And now my dear oldest son,
I sit here again by your side,
this time your lying within your coffin
and they're about to place you in your grave.
And all the things I must now pack away.

For someone took your life at the age of 19.
He never gave you a chance
for he murder you while you were sleeping.
There were no hugs or good-byes.
