| You couldn't call Beeson's score witty or exciting, and the central waltz section is clichd, but the music does have some charm and the cast made the most of the material. Hugh Russell's Col. Killegrew and Greta Feeney's Rachel were perfectly matched in their self-absorption. Feeney has a bright, piercing soprano and Russell's smooth legato phrasing was a pleasure to listen to. Brian Anderson, a recent graduate from the Opera Center, was exceptional as the shy, introverted Reuben Waterford. Rohrer and Robinson rounded out the fine cast. (Review in Adler Fellow Showcase) |
