Review at SFS - June 2004
Spinning out gorgeous lyrical lines at half-voice and setting off coloratura fireworks are among David Danielss specialties, and Bertarido seems to
have been composed especially for him..
(NY Met Review in Rodelinda)
David Daniels has a remarkable voice. He is one of the few countertenors who sounds neither freakish nor effete as he moves into the vocal stratosphere, and his voice remains masculine, solid, and even in tonal quality, no matter how high or low he sings. (Review)

SFO 2005 Review Out-Takes:
David Daniels does believe in the music. His superb rendition of "
Dove sei?" (Where are you?) convinced the listener that he was Bertarido, singing from his own heart, longing for his wife. / SF Classical Voice

Just as exciting is the probable fulfilment of yet another item on the Daniels wish-list: another new work commissioned entirely for his voice. Its not a whole opera that remains a major goal but it will be a considerable work of about 20 to 25 minutes, a cantata for solo alto and orchestra commissioned by the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Its the brainchild of the orchestras General Manager Paul Hughes, who has admired Daniels work for several years and will be composed by the outstanding British composer Jonathan Dove, with a premier scheduled for October 2006./ Source
