Yesterday's Church

The doors of the church were once wide open in Tunisia. In fact ancient Carthage, near modern day Tunis, was the most respected center of Christian learning and church flourished and spread right across North Africa, inspite of persecution under from the Romans. Heresies and division, aggravated by the lack of Scripture in the North African language, steadily weakened the church over the centuries until Carthage fell to invading Arabs in 689. By the 12th century the last North African church finally closed its doors.

Tunisians Today

Today the churches of Tunisia are just archeology sites, and those Tunisians who are seeking God will be found in the local mosque. Tunisian Arabs are practically 100% Muslim. Most have little or no conviction about their religion, but they do not know where else to turn. Following Jesus is the only real option, but they need to be told. He says "Behold, I stand at the door and knock!" The door to the churches of Tunisia can and will be re-opened!

A Church for Tomorrow

God is at work opening the door to Tunisian hearts. Materialism and the emptiness of Islamhave left Tunisian Arabs with a spiritual hunger - room for the Spirit of God to work! Even now some are beginning to turn to Jesus. You may be called to be a part of the Lord's work, reaching out to the other 9 million who have not yet heard.
