The primary objective and purpose of Open Door Christian School is to give each student the best education possible, both academically and spiritually.  We admit students of any race, color, national, or ethnic origin.

WHY A CHRISTIAN EDUCATION?

The Bible mandates that we train our children in basic Christian philosophy and education.  In the recognition that Christian education should take place first and foremost in the home and church, Open Door Christian School sees itself as an arm of the home and church.  God places ultimate responsibility for developing Christ-like children on the parents.  Open Door Christian School is a resource upon which they may draw.  Our school's academic and discipline standards are very high, and we believe that the academic and spiritual results of our children justify these standards.  We have open prayer and emphasize a Biblical view of life with emphasis on the development of a Christian attitude toward morality, discipline and patriotism.  We believe in the development of the whole child - spiritually, mentally, emotionally, socially and physically.

SCHOOL HISTORY

We began our school in 1983 with eight students.  Our school has now grown to a student body of approximately 200 students from a tri-county area ~ Fluvanna, Louisa, and Albemarle.

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO SPACE CONSTRAINTS, OPEN DOOR NO LONGER OFFERS A PRESCHOOL PROGRAM.

KINDERGARTEN TO TWELFTH GRADE

There is a NON-REFUNDABLE $50 registration fee per family.   Tuition  is $2000 per year for the first child, and $1800 for the second child and $1600 for each additional child - brothers and sisters only.  Books for kindergarten are approximately $90.  Grades 1 through 6 may rent textbooks for $2-$3 per book.  All workbooks must be purchased.  Prices range from $95 to $120. Grades 7 through 12 are required to buy their textbooks. Prices range from $95 to $160 per student.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

We also offer a before school program from 7 AM until 8:15 AM.  This is basically child care--not structured activity time.  It is designed to accommodate working parents who need care before regular school hours.  The fee for before school care is $10 per month per child.   Our after school program runs from 3 PM to 6 PM.  It is somewhat structured but mostly allows for play time.  Outdoor games, videos and other activities are offered as well as a time to begin homework.  The fee for after school care is $60 per month for the first child, $30 per month for each additional child.  Discounts apply to brothers and sisters only.

VAN SERVICE

Vans will run in certain zones surrounding the school.  Van rates are $700 per year for the first child and $350 per year for each additional child.  This fee may be paid in monthly installments or all at once.  Monthly installments run from August through May.  If a van does not come to your area, and you need transportation, we will endeavor to assist with information on carpools and other parents in your area.

SUMMER DAY CARE

There is a separate summer day care program which runs June to August. The daycare is open from 7 AM to 6 PM for children ages 4 - 12.  Tuition is a flat fee for each month regardless of the amount of hours used.    There is a NON-REFUNDABLE registration fee of $35 per family and a $20 art fee per child.  Tuition is $225 per month for the first child, and $202.50 per month for each additional child.  No transportation or field trips are available during the summer months.
