| A God Beyond Understanding? Why would a loving God do something like that? There cant really be a God up there. If there was, He wouldnt have let this happen. But what the Bible says doesnt make sense! Do you ever find yourself saying these things? Are you ever overwhelmed by how many questions you have about God? Are you skeptical because, in your eyes, the Bible doesnt make sense? Ecclesiastes 11:5 says, As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in the mothers womb, so you can not understand he work of God the maker of all things. As humans, we are not able to understand many things about God. Our simple minds can not comprehend the maker of all things. Job 28:12-13 states; But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell? Man does not comprehend its worth; it cannot be found in the land of the living. In Job 36:26, it goes on to say; How great is God-beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out. On our own, God doesnt make sense. By ourselves, there is no way we could ever comprehend the extent of Gods power and love for us! But there is a way that we can understand more about God. Ephesians 3:4 says In reading this, then you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ By studying Gods word, we can begin to get a glimpse of who he is, and to understand his ways. Also, Proverbs 9:10 states, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Christians are able to know God through their faith in him. He gives them knowledge and wisdom into his will. Job 32:8 tells us But it is the Spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding. Dont get frustrated when things happen and you dont understand why. Study the Bible and pray for wisdom. Psalm 25:8 tells us Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. God will grant you wisdom if you sincerely ask for it. (Read 1 Kings 3 for a time when Solomon asked for wisdom and God gave it to him.) And remember-even though there are many things that we do not understand about God, we are to love Him with everything that we DO understand. To love him with all your heart, with all your UNDERSTANDING, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.-Mark12:33 And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and deep is the love of Christ, and to know that his love surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. - Ephesians3:17 For more information read Isaiah 40:28, 1 Corinthians 2:12,John 3:8, and Job Chapters 38-41 |
