To have faith in someone or something means that you believe and trust in them. Some synonyms for faith include: confidence, trust, assurance, reliance, devotion and loyalty. You know that this person or thing will come through for you when you need them.
When you have faith in God, you believe that he is all that he says he is in the Bible-holy, perfect, loving, merciful, and trustworthy. You know that when he promises that through faith in his son you will someday reach heaven, he is telling the truth. You are devoted and loyal to his will and want to follow it for the rest of your life.
Faith in God is basic to Christianity. There is no Christianity without God, or his son Jesus. Faith in God SHOULD be basic to humanity. We cant live without God, but many of us try.
And why do we do this?
2 Corinthians 13:5 tells us that Jesus  Christ is inside all of us. So why do we resist him? For many people, it is because they think they cant see proof that He exists. But that shouldnt matter! 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, We live by faith, not by sight. We believe in God not because we can physically see him, but because we know in our hearts and minds that he is real. For in this hope we are saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? (Romans 8:24)
So dont focus on what you can see. Focus on what God really is, what his word tells us and shows us that he is. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18
