The Swedish Beat Scene
Sweden had it's own fair share of amazing beat groups, groups like The Tages , The Shanes, Namelosers, Shamrocks, Jackpots, Mascots , and Hep Stars.  Swedish acts prior to the Beatles  were pale immitations of the Shadows and similar instro bands of the time.  Sweden had it's own Beatles in the form of Tages, they had one of Sweden's top managers and the privlage of recording several Lp's at Abbey Road studios. The Mascots were surely second string to groups like Tages and Ola & the Janglers, but don't let that deter you from tracking their recordings down.  Here are some of the better Swedish Beat  acts of the sixties for you to see!
Hep Stars-
Hep Stars  were the pride of Sweden (which doesn't say much for the Swedish).  Their only other reason for being memorable is there future ABBA big boy, Benny Anderson. Aside from a handful  of inept(but entertaining no less)beat tracks , they pretty much suck Scandinavian wind! I have seen them on the German TV show "Beat Beat Beat", and they sound pretty crude, not to mention the fact that their singer Sven Hedlund appeared to have a beatle up his butt. Cool Lp cover.
Slam Creepers
Slam Creepers -
These guys recorded one superb ep ( above) that has Kinks, Them and Hollies covers.
Namelosers
The Namelosers
They began as the Beatchers, a hybrid of the names Beatles and Searchers.  Turns out they were not alone and had  to get a new name.  And so here are the Namelosers:long hair, loud fuzz, and several stunning originals. "Do-Ao," and "That's Allright", not to forgrt first class covers of "Suzy Q," and "Land of a Thousand Dances".  More damaging than knocking your head against a wall.  See Kutie Morning Moon web site for more on these crazed Swedish cats.
Tages
Annaabee - Nox -  Swedish hipsters appear to be cooling their heels in the slammer!
Beatchers later known as The Namelosers
