Cubs fans face felony charges after attack

HUNTLEY – An alcohol-fueled argument that started about baseball at a 2-year-old’s birthday party ended with a 32-year-old White Sox fan losing his right eye and three Cubs fans facing felony charges, police said Monday.
A preliminary McHenry County court hearing is scheduled today for Jaroslaw “Jerry” Czapla, 31, of Huntley, and Boguslaw “Bob” Czapla, 37, of Elmwood Park. A third man, 33-year-old Maciej “Mike” Trojnar of Elmwood Park remains at large with a warrant issued for his arrest, Huntley Deputy Police Chief Todd Fulton said.
The men attacked Robert Steele of Gurnee about 10:45 p.m. July 19 at a party phoenix non surgical face lift at Jerry Czapla’s house in the 10900 block of Cape Cod Lane, using nair for face hair thickness Fulton said.
Steele’s nose and orbital bone were broken and he lost his right eye in the attack after he was kicked in the face with a steel-toed boot.
Steele and his fiancée, April Bieze, said they went to the Abby Cadabby-Sesame Street-themed party that afternoon for Bieze’s 2-year-old niece. Bob Czapla and the other men were drinking vodka and beer and started taunting Steele with claims that White Sox fans had missing teeth, Bieze said.
“We were going to leave, but they convinced us that they were just joking around,” Bieze said.
Yet the taunts escalated and turned more personal, Steele said. Bob Czapla punched Steele, and the pair began to struggle before the two other men helped knock him to the garage floor and started kicking him in the head, Steele said.
Huntley paramedics took Steele to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where he remained hospitalized for several pretty face hardcore days. He will need to be fitted for a glass eye and could require additional surgeries because of the steel-toed boot kick that he said Bob Czapla delivered.
“Any mirrors I go by, I don’t look in the mirror,” said Steele, who has health insurance but could miss several months of work. “I don’t want that to affect me, to see myself like that.”
Authorities charged Bob Czapla with mob action and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Jerry Czapla was charged with battery and mob action, and police issued a warrant for Trojnar on charges of battery and mob action.
Mob action is a Class 4 felony punishable by up to three years in prison. Both Czapla brothers were free on bond, police said.
Meanwhile, Steele could face months of physical therapy. He cannot drive or climb ladders for work, and he has man without a face tv struggled to read since the injury, but he has tried to stay positive.
“They said I’ll be able to do pretty much everything except fly an airplane,” Steele joked. “If I fall down, my family’s going to fall down. I’m up for my family.”

This is a story about a bunch of idiots that think sports are more important than what they are teaching their children. What kind of a face laws parent serves acohol at a childs party and what kind of an jerk stays when you see they are drinking and insulting their guests.

The fight was NOT over baseball but Hello Kitty balloons. Jerry was upset that Roberts balloon had more helium. He couldn't make the funny voice that we all make. Then Bob got involved because Jerry was taking Roberts balloon and started throwing punches. Thats where it got really ugly.
Robert lost his eye when Mikey blew a party horn in the direction of Robert.
