| A basic listing of tools that a new Witch can begin with | ||||||||||||||||||||
| The Athame/Spirit Blade/Witch's Knife is a tool used to direct energy. Your hand can be used in this place, but some prefer a tool because it sets them into the magickal mood. There is NOTHING wrong with that. It traditionally has a black handle and sometimes, the end is blunt. I dunno about that concept, but some like it. This is never used to cut anything! Only used to direct personal power. Black handled scissors can also be used. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| The Bolline is the working tool of the witch. This knife usually has a white handle and has a traditional shape. It is used for cutting herbs for spells, carving, etc. This tool is to be used in the circle, but if you don't use circles, why bother with that rule? White handled scissors can be used too. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| The working table/Craft table, etc is the place where you might place charms that are finished or work spells. There is a difference between this and the altar of a Wiccan, there is no religious symbols of a particular god or goddess. Unless you put it there. I have a picture of the Witch Goddess Hecate, who is my patron goddess, nearby. Plus, it doesn't have to be a permanent site. You can put all your math books and stuff back on it afterwards! | ||||||||||||||||||||
| If you practice divination, then you would have your divination tool/s. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Candles, incense, incense burner and ash container, etc is another set of tools. You don't have to have these, you can be a Witch without them. I like to think they are rather handy. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Jewelry that you might wear. I have so many necklaces, a few rings and working on bracelets. I like to go to a craft store, buy rock beads, like amethyst, etc and make a bracelet or necklace for my practice with them. Especially if they fit the working I'm going to do. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Your spellbook, whether you call it a Grimoire (a traditional name for a book of magick), a Book of Shadows (Wiccan spellbook and religious book), etc. You place all your correspondences, spells, and stuff you will want to remember at any time. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| The Circle cord, if you use a magick circle for spells. This should be nine feet in length. If you need to learn how to use this in a simple circle casting, refer to the spellcraft sections. As for the color, I'd relate it to the type of working your doing, red for a love spell, etc. | ||||||||||||||||||||
