Intro to the Opal Tradition
I love this picture too, thanks Chare Bear for sending it!
There isn't any initiation rites or anything to go into the Opal Tradition. Heck, there really isn't an Opal Tradition, it's just a name I like and decided to use for my brand of WHITE Witchcraft, aka opal = white.
If you are disappointed that this isn't some world-wide tradition of practical Witchcraft or in one of Silver RavenWolf's glossary of traditions of Witchcraft, I'm sorry. However, I presenting a form of Witchcraft. What is the form? Well, I believe in the Code of White Magick, which I've heard called the Code of Merlyn or The Witches' Arm, etc. It is a code that one will not perform negative, destructive magick. It is similar to the Wiccan Rede, but it is not a religious code.
So, where is the Code of White Magick? It is different with every person, but the main idea is pretty much the same: You give an oath to not cause injury, harm, or anything negative with magick. Some people will argue that no matter what you do with magick, there is always some form of injury. I can see this view point, but then I don't.
If you choose to do magick, you need to accept responsibility, and everything that is in that package, good and bad.
