The elderly Russian and the young American formed quite a contrast. The Russian was experienced and bitter, whereas the American was green and optimistic. However, one common bond had brought them together. A bond formed in the firey competetion of the Omega Tournament. More specifically, Kenji Nakamura.

After Luke Masterson's crushing defeat at the hands of the tailed Japanese, he had promised to himself to get revenge. Of course, to get revenge, Luke had to be strong. And after seeing Mirsky and Kenji clash, Luke could think of no better person from which to learn this strength.

Normally, Mirsky would say no to taking on a student. But, several things intrigued him about Luke. First of all, they had the same goal. This would prove to be a valuable tool in molding the boy to his will. Secondly, Luke had an amazing ego, even for someone of his age. Mirsky looked forward to crushing this ego, and seeing how much raw potential he could squeeze out.

Yes, this was the beginning of a great apprenticeship; anything but glorious, but to be certain, great.

Nicole could barely contain her anxiety as she boarded the plane. This was the beginning of a new life for her. A day before, as she was preparing to return to Canada, she had recieved a letter telling her that her sole caretaker, her adopted grandfather, had died. The cause was uncertain, but it surely was not naturally, as he was in peak condition.

She sat there, waiting for take off. "May I have your attention please. There has been a slight delay. It will be handled shortly, and then we will be on our way." She sighed at the announcement.

She was tired. She was out of tears. She didn't know what to do or feel. Judo had been her life, but after she had witnessed the contrast between her skills and those of her competitors, she felt that it was a waste. And now, she didn't even have her only family to live for.

"May I take seat?" asked a heavily accented voice from behind. She turned to see none other than Kenji Nakamura.

"You...!"

He took his seat. "I been looking for you. I hear about grandfather. So sorry."

Nicole remained silent.

"I thinking... You have potential. I could... train you."

Nicole looked at him strangely for a moment. His offer was very abrupt, to say the least. But hey, what did she have to lose? The man obviously had some skill, some skill that she needed desperately just to know that living was a worthwhile task. And if it didn't pan out, she could always leave, find some other escape. She simply nodded.

Kenji nodded in return. "I glad you accept. You no regret it."
