unprecedented horizons. the name ootchinova is derived from its founding members: jem ucar - ootchi, and mike novalski - nova; however since their inception this folk-funk family has been extended with drummer kevin lu, who has passed his legacy of percussion on to ryan smith, bassist shafton thomas, the lyricist known as 'enlitnd_1', dj mensa, and backing vocalists marianne turner and sahra ucar. in just a short year these guys have released a debut cd entitled 'looking glass', performed at such notable downtown toronto clubs/bars as rancho relaxo, the victory cafe, revival, the b-side, and healey's, and anticipate the upcoming release of their energetic and thought provoking 'live' album. whether you are in to folk, pop, funk, blues, hip hop, or even bored with music in general, ootchinova serves up somethin' tasty every time!
