| The world is becoming warmer, this is a proven fact. Glaciers are melting in the North pole and species are being forced to adapt to the temperature change, or die.. Are we destroying our little planet? Or is this global warming hysteria and bullshit? When we look at temperature charts, we see that the climate has been gradually becoming warmer for the past hundred years. If you base all of your information on the last 100 years it looks grim. But to understand global warming, you must look at the environment and the climate on a geological scale. Not in hundreds of years, or thousands of years, but in millions of years. 50 Million years ago the North Pole had no ice on it. It was a vast lake, covered in plantlife. 15 million years ago, the temperature began to change, and the climate became colder. Ice grew on the North Pole, and plants and animals were forced to either adapt or die, just like now. 20,000 years ago the world was in an ice age. Ice stretched from the north pole to near the equator. Present day all of the ice has melted and the North Pole continues to become warmer. This warming process has been happening long before humans even lived. When you look at a 100 year scale of temperature, you will see a sharp increase of temperature, this is ture. But when you step back and think of the world on a geological scale, and you turns 1's in to 100's and 1000's you will see part of a continium. Just as the temperatures change for the seasons, on a vast scale the temperature will change for the millenium. I believe that global warming is hysteria and bullshit. It is propoganda which environmentalists are notorious for. In school 12 years ago, I was told planet earth would run out of fresh water in 10 years. I was told that 10 species were becoming extinct every day. I was told many lies. Bullshit propoganda is not the way to build support for what should be a real and worthy cause. There are plenty of real dangers to our environment that need focus, such as overpopulation, habitat destruction, and alien species introduction. Global warming is the least of our problems. Even if I were completely wrong, and we are causing a super destructive temperature change, it would not melt the glaciers and flood much of the world as we are told. Common sense dictates that it would gradually melt and water levels would slowly rise. Perhaps about one inch per year. There would be no sudden heat wave that would cause the North Pole to entirely thaw out and wipe out England. As temperatures rise, tropical species would be able to spread North. Locations in Russia, and North America that previously were too cold to grow plantlife can suddenly grow plantlife. Plantlife creates cool air. So in essense, nature has an ingenious balance to maintain it's current system. The more heat that is produced, the more plantlife is able to flourish in Northern, and extreme Southern climates, and the more cool air they produce through the process of photosynthesis. |
