Valentines Rapier Tourney and Market Day

Valentines 2007, 10 February

My Barony, Politarchopalis, held the Valentines Rapier tourney and Market day to celebrate Valentines day and to find our Baronesses new rapier champion.  As an interesting addition to the day, merchants were invited to offer their wares.

I thought I'd wear an old favourite that while it has had a lot of wearing, I haven't been the one wearing it.  My apprentices have been kind enough to wear it for me. Ellen, a friend of mine I didn't expect to see on the day as I didn't know she had intended to attend an SCA event, and was thrilled that she came along.  I made this dress for one of my apprentices some years ago.

I had some new pretties for the day.  A new linen and lace partlet, beautiful glass hoop earrings and a locket with my laurel on it.  My pomander was on a cord, but under my corset so I could smell the beautiful perfume.

The night before the event I decided to make myself a new partlet.  Linen and lace, it really is beautiful. I also wore my new earrings, and my new locket.

Ashleigh came along in the morning along with Michael.  Ashleigh was very interested in all the pretties Mummy had on her table, and wanted to help set up.

"Mummy's feather fan was so pretty and so much fun to play with, just like Captain Feathersword.  I wanted to make sure the trees were shady enough for mummy too, these leaves look so pretty."

I was very pleased with the look of my little stall.  There were lots of beautiful things for people to look at and become inspired by.

Oh Pretty!

My Stall

I have been a very busy lady with lots of new things for my stall this year.  This is a small sample of what will be offered at Rowany Festival this year.  I could not fit it all on my little table, so there were 'under the table' specials.
