Professor Oak's Guide Book
Welcome to Professor Oak's Guide Book!!! There are important facts in this book so I wouldn't mind you listening!

How a pokemon gains a level
Other than the game boy version of leveling up is much easier. To level up in one way, you must find a wild pokemon and do your best to either make it faint or capture it with a pokeball you can buy at a pokemart!!! The second most obvious way is to battle with another trainer. The pokemon that wins gains a level.

What if a two pokemon need to battle and you win?

Simple question, complicated answer. If you used two pokemon, you must pick one of the pokemon that gains a level. Either that or level up the pokemon that was last to battle.

What is a basic pokemon?

A basic pokemon is a starting level of a pokemon. Example: Eevee, Pikachu, Squritle. There are different types like... A baby pokemon. There aren't many baby pokemon, so I'll name them, Igglybuff, Cleffa, Pichu, Togepi and another that's before Magmar (I forgot his name). You cannot start with these pokemon, you must find an egg or breed to of the same pokemon, with two genders at the Breeding Corner in the Pokemon Center. There is also Stage 1 pokemon. Example: Quilava, Wartortle, Clefable. These can sometimes be the end of pokemon evolution. You cannot start with these because they are too strong and you still don't have the badge to do so. And finally, there's stage 2. Example: Typhlosion, Butterfree, Blastoise. These are mostly the last evolution  for most pokemon. You cannot start with these pokemon because they will disobey you.

How do pokemon gain moves?
After a pokemon reaches to level four, it will learn a new attack. It will keep doing that by fours until it reaches level 100. All the moves for all the pokemon are listed in the Pokemon Center. You can also use your Pokemon Handbook (that is, if you have one).
