• The total owning and operating cost (RM/ha) of POWERTILLER PT1 depends on its annual use, the total purchase price of the machinery (i.e. powertiller and implements) and the field capacities of the machinery.
• The field capacity of the machinery in puddling the padi soil varied depending on the depth of puddling, the soil bearing capacity and the size of soil clods.
• The cost of puddling the padi soil is about RM 45.00/ha as shown in the TABLE below.

ASSUMPTIONS

The following assumptions were made in the economic analysis:
• The annual use of POWERTILLER PT1 is 1000 hours.
• The annual use of POWERTILLER PT1 for puddling is 500 hours.
• Interest is 10%.
• Salvage value is 10%.
• Economic life of POWERTILLER PT1 is 10 years, that of the puddling wheels is 8 years.
• Straight line depreciation
• Oil cost is 15% of fuel cost
