Midnight Winter

In the dead of the night, when nothing's right, and the stars come out to play
When illusion rules the earth, and what's real has washed away
When the trees all look like monsters, and the monsters look like trees
And the darkness is thrown 'bout by the cold stab of the breeze
And the moon outside my window, looks so pale, looks so cold
While the town below the mountain, looks so quiet, looks so old
When I cannot fall asleep, though I cannot stay awake
And the slow-dance of the planets flects upon the silent lake
When the universe seems empty, I feel like I am alone
And the embers are still burning in my quiet cabin home
When the crescent shines upon us, and illuminates the snow
And the frost upon my windowpane reflects the candle's glow
And the quiet landscape feels and seems so peaceful in the night
And I feel as though I know that everything will be alright
When my frozen silver tears shine and sparkle from the moon
I only shed them 'cause I know, that the night will be over soon...
