JUN DANGOY

O
:  how many awards have you received in the past?

J: i think i got 1 photographer of the year award & before that i got about 2 or 3 second place.  i could not remember what year they were anymore.

O: is digital imaging as challenging as the old fashioned point & shoot?

J: digital camera shooting is actually easier than conventional photography since you can see what you've taken right away.  that means no more guess work.  working with photos in the computer is much less messy than doing them in the darkroom.  no more "amoy suka" when you go out of the darkroom. the minus side is that it's still expensive & low end camera models tend to shoot quite slow, not good for sports or photojourn.  to be able to shoot very fast shots, you need to buy the expensive SLR digital cameras.

O: what's your favorite past time?

J:  since most of the time i'm in sri lanka, my past time has changed.  it's watching cable tv, tennis & computing (is laba & plantsa considered a past time cuz it consumes a lot of my time here?  he he)

O:  our egroup was the result of your regular visits to sydney before & we have so much to thank you & kitty.  do you think we'll be able to resume our online contest?

J:  yes, of course!  why don't we start with the theme "chinese new year 2002"?

O: a lot of people say that you're a "jack of all trades."  is there anything else you wish to accomplish?

J:  i want to run a successful business where i can spend more time with my family so i can "retire" from flying as an expat.

O:  can you give us 1 photo tip?

J:  shoot to create only pictures you're passionate about.  take away all the static & interference like profit or approval from others.  if you can genuinely say that your pictures reflect who or what you are, then you're a more successful photographer than any professional alive.
