The " circle of life" is powerful cultural and religious symbol for Native Americans. When peace , wholeness and harmony exist, Native Americans view the circle in balance. The Native American is a long forgotten mission field here in American. When we talk about ministry and the Native American people, we immediately think of the Native Americans living on the reservations. Ninety percent of all mission work is directed towards those living on the reservation, were only 30% actually live. The "hidden" mission field is the 70% of Native Americans living in our own neighborhoods. The reality of the situation is simple- there are very few Native churches, Native shaperds, very few ministries with an outreach program aimed towards the Native American, or shaperds willing to follow this path of ministry. We are willing to reach out to the mission field in foreign countries, but do very little to reach out to the needs in our own neighborhood. And yet, is it truly the job of the leadership of the church to take on this full responsibility? Jesus said,"The harvest is the end of the age"( Matthew 13:39). Between now and the end of the age, more people will come to know Jesus than from Pentecost until this time. Before the end, every village in every nation will have heard the gospel preached. The knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as waters cover the sea. During this harvest the gospel will change from " Come and be saved ", to " Come and bow down, He is the King!" Jesus will be preached as Lord and not just Savior. This is the seventh and last trumpet, or message to be preached. A great task lies a head for the entire church! Every believer is called to ministry, and everyone is needed. It is imparative that each believer find his or her proper place in the body, and to begin to function in it. To be able to teach others to do the same. Our commission is to: "Go therefore and MAKE DISCIPLES of all NATION ( including the Nation with in our nation the Native American Nation) baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe All that I commanded you."( Matthew 28:19-20) Making disciples is our mandate. One of the most important things we can do is to reach out to one another, and to those around us in need, through intercession and support. This makes the " circle" balanced! Balanced by the most powerful source at our disposal, LOVE!!!!! If you are a Christian and Native American, then you have a resposablity to you Brethren, to reach out in LOVE!! To bring them Hope and LIFE!!! Written by : u-da-(nv)-ti wo:-ya (Gentle Dove) of the Tsalagi (Cherokee ) In Cherokee gesv wigananugo?i.
