I taught my children at home, my son graduated 5 years ago, with a 98 average on his final test. He is in collage now, taking office management. My daughter, decided to have children instead of taking her final test, but has recently asked me to help her prepare for the test, so she can get her diploma.

When I was home schooling my children, I used a regular curriculum, and supplemented it with other work books that I found through a local teachers supply store. Today, I find myself teaching my grandchildren. This time I have a computer to help me find what I needed to teach them, which is a great help, since our local teachers supply store closed down. But I have found that even using the computer is limited on its sources of worksheet.

As I began to look for worksheet on the History of the Western Expansion, I soon came to realize that there really were none available. Yes, you came find lesson plans, on how you should approach the subject with your children, but they lack reading material and worksheets. Yes, there are a few websites, that can provide you with a few worksheets, but those I found were either faulty in their presentation, or very limited . In other words, I could only find enough worksheets to last a few days. So my love of History prevailed, and I decide to create my own worksheets.

I wish I could provide it to you for free, but I put a lot of work into them. I have taken a standard lesson plan for the study of the Western Expansion, and added to the subject that I thought were vital to understanding how the United States grew and expanded during the time period between 1800-1900. I also added a little extra, the music and lyrics of songs that were popular at the time.

I am a strong believer, that children learn quicker and with less stress, if you make the learning experience fun.
