Onteora Class of 1979
25th
Reunion Newsletter
July 23, 2004

Can you believe it?  We're only 1 week away!

That’s right.  Just one week away from our 25th reunion, and we can’t wait to catch up with everyone in person.  It’s been great to re-connect with many of you during the past few months via phone and email, but nothing compares to being able to see each other face-to-face.  We do hope that you and your family (if applicable) will be able to join us at some point during the weekend.

Here’s the weekend lineup

Friday night, July 30th - 7pm - Catamount Café, Mt. Tremper

Do you remember your first day of school, and the anticipation of seeing friends that you hadn’t seen all summer?  Well, think of how you’ll feel when you see people that you haven’t seen in 5, 10 or 25 years!  This is the event that kicks it all off.  A very informal gathering designed for the Class of 1979 and friends of the class will be held at the Catamount Café.  There’s no admission charge, and a cash bar will be available.

Saturday picnic, July 31st - 11am - 3pm - Davis Park, West Shokan

Bring your kids, your own picnic lunch, and your swimsuits and join us for a fun-filled afternoon at Davis Park.  There’s no admission charge, but there is a $2/person pool fee (payable at the park).  Come out for a few hours and reacquaint yourself with some old friends and make some new ones.

Saturday Night Dinner Party, July 31st - 7pm - New World Home Cooking, Saugerties

Our weekend culminates with a fabulous Saturday evening event at New World Home Cooking in Saugerties.  The cost of the event is $60/person.  If you would like to attend we do need to get your check ASAP!  Checks should be made payable to "Onteora Reunion 79" and mailed to:

What about friends of the class and our teachers?
Friday night and the Saturday picnic are open to both friends of the class and teachers, so if any of you are in contact with some of the teachers we used to have please feel free to invite them or provide them with the reunion website URL, www.geocities.com/Onteora79.

Who said it?  Try this one out

From the archives of the class will…take a look at the following quotes and see if you can match the person to what they “left behind”.  The answers appear at the bottom of the newsletter.

A.  In my will I leave a “thank you” to J.A. for all the great times, and may our friendship last forever.

B.  Being of sound mind I leave to the student body, Mr. Lapo’s BORING speeches and Mr. Cilley’s spazness.

C.  I leave to the jocks of O.C.S. the worst of my luck.  To all my cool friends the hope that someday marijuana will be legalized.

D.  To Mr. Stahl, many wonderful running experiences and $5.00 to type my first college paper.

E.  I leave Rich in the dust on the Shady curves, and give all future drivers warning about the Roving Meadows of Wittenberg.

Closing Thoughts
It’s been a lot of fun putting this together over the past few months, and if we can come up with some digital photos from the reunion we’ll post on the reunion website.  So, for those of you that can make it to the reunion we look forward to seeing you, and to those of you that aren’t going to be joining us – we'll miss you!
