| This survey was sent in by a School Council member in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. The below information has been added in the words of the School Council member. | Helpful Ideas from School Councils |
| Hello everyone. Here is the Parent Involvement Survey that was used by our School Council. We sent it out the past two years. Just a few pointers: - the goal in part of this survey (and so the intentional flow of the questions) is to sell parents on the value of parent involvement and then to get them to volunteer to be involved - keep to a single sheet, double-sided maximum left (that is why the font is so small) -- easier to fill out and handle - send it out at the beginning of September (first day of second week) -- gives you feedback for first council meeting and more importantly, gives you names of people interested to call that might join council (see bottom of second page) - I first developed this 4 years ago while Chair at another School Council, and since then, I know that another School Council asked for a copy and has used it too. - the response rate was tremendous - the list of parent volunteers was incredible - the number of parents who turned-out for School Council was great I hope you find it helpful and it useful to your school. Feel free to share this with anyone else that is interested and that might find it useful. If we continue to share experience, hopefully we will have better School Councils. |
