"My principal has asked me to implement a "Conflict Busters" program in our school. Could you, please, post the following on the Ontario School Council web site for me to gain information. I was wondering if anyone had any information or experience with a program called Conflict Busters. My understanding of the program is older students are trained to deal with conflicts between students on the schoolyard. Students are selected and trained on how to handle situations and when a yard problem/conflict needs teacher attention. If your school runs this program or a similar program to handle student conflicts I would be interested in knowing how it was implemented and pros and cons of running such a program. Many thanks."

"I did a google search of the title "Conflict Busters" and the many results came back. From what I read in the first result, Conflict Busters is a board game that helps students deal with conflict including anger management. I suggest that you go to www.google.com and type in Conflict Busters and read what the search engine comes up with. There is lots to read. I, also, would be interested in hearing from Ontario School Councils that have used this program. Our school is always looking for new ideas to use in our Safe School Program. I hope this helps you. Please, let us know how you make out with the program if you go forward with it. Good luck in your search."

"At (our) elementary school in HWDSB, we have student conflict managers. These are older students (grade 6) trained in conflict resolution. The other students are notified as to who the conflict managers are so they know who to go to for assistance before they go to the a teacher. Trained kids help other kids deal with issues and problems before the teacher is involved. It works great. All kids love it. I would recommend it. For further information on the program, I suggest you contact the school directly (905) 574-6336. I do not believe this is aboard in the HWDSB wide program, but in has been in place at (our school) for over 5 years."
