Commissioners Corner

I have said it before and I'll say it again, local media especially local wrestling media needs to cover more indy wrestling anywhere in Ontario. Thats right I'm talking about the LAW (Live Audio Wrestling) that is on AM Talk 640 on sundays. Before you finish reading this check out  Emanuel Melo's
Ontario Indy Wrestling website and read the section about his e-mail to the Law about covering Ontario indy wrestling.

Mr. Lovranski (Host of the Law)is right Kingston is a little outside of the Law's listening area and fans from your listening area won't travel to Kingston to see an OPW show. But I have heard you talk about All Japan, New Japan, Noah, Zero One, Ring of Honor and Major Leage Wrestling all of which are great companies and have a great product. But all of the aforementioned are out of your listening area and I doubt fans from your listening area will travel to see, but you still talk about them. Why is that?

Most of the Fans I have talked to don't even realize indy wrestling exists and only stumbled upon OPW by seeing our posters or a newspaper article. I even try to promote OTHER companies by promoting their shows at our shows that are close to their upcoming shows.. I also put links up on the OPW website as well as letting other companies plug their company and future shows on our message board.

Back in the territory days (which were essentially indy's)the Original Sheik's Big Time Wrestling would draw ten thousand to a show at the Cobo and The Tunney's would sell out Maple leaf Gardens. These days it would take an act of god for an indy to draw those numbers because nobody knows about them because everyone is to busy plugging the WWE.

The WWE has seven hours of TV a week, do they really need your show to be a WWE show as well? If that is the case rename your show WWE audio or something of the sort and be done with it. I'm not saying not to talk about the WWE, what I'm saying is talk about the Ontario indy promotions as much.

I would like to send out props to Emanuel Melo for his support of Ontario indy wrestling and the effort he puts into his website. The Law could learn a lesson from him.
