| I was recently checking out "Warriors of the Mat USA" website and I was quoted as saying in my last Commissioners Corner: | |||||||
| "My point is that people see and hear enough about the WWE with its seven plus hours of T.V. each week and its extensive marketing of their product, so why not do some coverage of the indies. Especially the local wrestling media, they should be pushing their local independents more than anyone."; | |||||||
| The person who wrote the article who goes by the moniker Kenny Kayos went on to say: | |||||||
| "You ask yourself what makes Ontario stand out ?, nothing does...Look at USA they got CZW and XPW, sure the USA fans are blood thirsty fans and such but Ontario promotions are all the same, sure some do better matches and have better storylines ...but then guess what happens ? Another promotion pulls the same thing. Don't you believe me ? Allow me to point out the simple fact...Texas Hell-Razors vs Ebony Express or The Hacker vs Danger Boy Derek Wylde" | |||||||
| Well that is all I am going to quote if you want to read it check it out from the OPW links Page. Go to Warriors of the Mat USA, and to the shoot section, then Ontario Indy scene. | |||||||
| Kenny if your going to quote me get the jist of what I'm saying. With that quote I was talking about the media coverage the Ontario indies doesn't get, not about the local promotions getting T.V. shows. | |||||||
| If you want to know why a lot of Ontario promotions don't have T.V., it is because it is expensive to run enough to do a weekly one-hour T.V. show. It has nothing to do with the U.S. product being better. The fact that XPW was or still is backed by a porn company with a big bank roll does not make them better. I've seen their stuff and personally I don't think it is anything special. | |||||||
| The one thing I agree with that Kenny Kayos said is that Notorious T.I.D. could do a Deathmatch division in Ontario. But I disagree that he is the only one. What about Bill Skullion, Willy Allen, Magnus, Phil Latio, Warhed, Kwan Chang and Moondog Manson from B.C., Juggernaut from Calgary to name a few. | |||||||
| You talk about a Canadian Death match Championship and if anyone does anything like it they got the idea from you. Well about two years ago Warhed had the same idea and I'm sure others have before him most likely coming from the King of the Death match tournaments that were held in Japan. | |||||||
| I have seen and been to a lot of shows in the US and Canada and I would have to say that the Ontario product and wrestlers can hold their own with any North American product. Kenny just because you're a mark for hardcore stuff and a lot of guys don't want to give you interviews, it has nothing to do with CZW or XPW having a better product than Ontario promotions. It is obvious you have a beef with guys in Ontario, but if you are going to try to be a journalist try to act like one and be professional. |
