Well everyone is asking "OPW Dead?"

Well the answer to that is NO. OPW is far from dead.

Why hasen't OPW running any events lately?

Because like most wrestling companies in Ontario there is a problem with getting Public Liability Insurance for wrestling events, but if I was running a Demolition Derby it would be no problem to get insurance..

For those of you who don't know, you have to have one million dollers Public Liabiliy Insurance to legally run events in Ontario. If you do have a wrestling event without the insurance you can be charged under the Athletic Control Act which appearanty is not enforced in the case of backyard wrestling...don't ask me why not, because even if you inform the Ontario Athletic Commission (OAC) of backyard shows they won't do anything about it unless you send them a poster for the event. If any of you have questions as to why these backyard companies that are killing the wrestling business are allowed to run illegally call the Athletic Commissioner at 1-800-268-6024 and talk to Ken Hayashi and ask him why. Or better yet ask him what the OAC is doing to help prosper the wrestling industry in Ontario during this insurance problem. Now that would be a good question.

Since we are on the topic of the OAC and the laws that govern Pro Wrestling in Ontario, I am asking the wrestling promoters in Ontario to ban together to help get the laws changed in regards to Pro Wrestling in Ontario. I have already talked to some of the promoters in Ontario with mixed reactions about getting the laws changed. Now is the time to act and let the government know as an industry we need to have these laws changed to help the business. I am not talking about changing them completely so anybody with a ring can run a show I am talking about changing them enough so the legit promoters in Ontario can make the industry stronger. I have an MPP that is willing to back the changes to the act. I will be contacting the other Ontario promoters or they can e-mail me to see what changes I am refering to and maybe we can do some good for the industry in Ontario.

I am currently waiting to hear back in regards to insurance so hopefully I will see you all at an OPW event in the very near future, so keep checking back.
