Ontario's Fire Towers
This photo courtesy of Joe Beynen shows the Onaping Lake Tower looking down to the weather station below it. This was shot in the summer of 2001. Right below it is a photo of a friend of fellow tower enthusiast Robert Olar who climbed up this tower on Mount Ogidaki, which is Ontario's 2nd highest point at 665 metres.

Ontario's highest point is Ishpatina Ridge at 693 metres which was determined in 1972. An American who's name I must find again travels the USA and Canada to each areas highest points and got this cool snapshot of the Ellis Fire Tower there. Notice the old footings below from the previous tower? I believe this tower was built the year before they disbanded the system. Below is the aerial photo of it taken by Bill Fox in 2002.

Next photos courtesy of Gerry Neilands: Above is the view of the Shining Tree Tower and bunkhouse. This is an 80 ft square cupola tower. Below is a long distance view of the Wilkie Fire Tower on Flack Lake north of Elliot Lake. It's quite a hike to that hill. The photo below it is of the view from Shining Tree Tower.
