The Croft, September 3rd 2003.

I was really looking forward to this one! Unfortunately the headlining band Dead Letter Department from Canada were... Ahem.... Kicked off the bill due to a disagreement between their tour manager and the promoter. Anyway, 5 minutes before we were due to play when we are on our way back to the venue we were stopped by a bouncer who asked us for ID, when we told him we were in a band who was playing tonight, we got "I DONT CARE IF YOUR IN A BAND, IF YOUR UNDER 18 THEN YOUR NOT COMING IN." The guy wouldnt let any of our friends into the gig either. After a lengthy discussion he reluctantly let us go in with our friends, but as soon as our set was finished he kicked us all off of the premisis. What a fucking asshole. When it came to showtime the sound was very poor, and i couldnt hear a thing. After our set i had mixed opinions from people, from "You played well" all the way to "Very bad". Im not sure what to think. I think the gig would have been a hell of a lot more enjoyable for us if the sound was better for our set (i noticed by the next band the sound had imroved dramaticly) And if that so called "security guard" wouldnt have been so uptight about nothing. You can kiss our asses you arrogant prick. In Between Nothing and The Attika State were amazing though, which made up for my dissapointment earlier in the night.

Thanks List:
* Matt Otridge for getting us the show.
* Dan from In Between Nothing for lending me the bass amp
* The Attika State and In Between Nothing for kicking ass and cheering me up

Friday Night Live @ Lakota, Bristol. August 29th 2003

After 2 whole days of recording our EP at Bink Bonk Studios, we set out on the night to play Friday Night Live @ Lakota alongside some top quality bands, namely Two Day Rule, Clean and Phonic. Entering the venue during soundcheck we are a bit overwhelmed by the size of the place and how loud the PA is. Watching Two Day Rule and Clean soundcheck is a daunting experience for us all because they are both very experienced and talented bands. Theres no denying how nervous we were tonight, but doing soundcheck calmed our nerves a little bit. We were on first as usual, and got straight down to business. We were fairly energetic at this gig and was fun to play. There was around 50 - 60 people watching us, but because the venue was big the place seemed almost empty. After we played Jamie and Rich decaired that they thought it was the worst gig to date. I dont see why, it was nothing special but far from bad. The highlight of the gig for us was seeing 3 random people who we had gave tickets to in the street earlier in the day turn up! Also Phonic and Clean were amazing which is great to see. I had to leave because i was so exhausted and im sorry to Two Day Rule and Capital State for leaving early but i could barely keep my eyes open. A big shout out to Phonic for being so damn friendly, as well as sacrificing their soundcheck for us and allowing us to use their gear.

Thanks List:
* Adrian from Sugar Shack records for getting us the show
* My dad for the lifts
* Phonic for lending us their gear and being genuinely nice people.

The Swan, Thornbury. April 3rd 2003

After arriving to the venue late and missing the soundcheck (I had to play a gig with the Burning Segas as their temporary bassist) I had enough time to plug in and get a drink from the bar, and 5 minutes later we were beginning our set. We made a crazy last minute desicion to open up with "You Cant Hear Me" which is our Usual set closer! We played a good set, We made one or two mistakes, but nobody really noticed. Other than that we played quite a good gig. The rapidly improving YXP? Then played a blinder which is good to see. Overall a good night and quite a success!

Thanks List
:
* YXP? For asking us to play
* The crazy jumping guys at the front - You Rule!
* The Burning Segas for being so understanding and letting me go before they had finished!
