Minty is the story of two identical girls who live on opposite sides of the planet, don't know the other exists, and are in no way related. Melanie submits a video diary for a competition and wins a trip to Australia. When she arrives she goes to the airport bathroom and runs into Minty. Minty, an actor that doesn't want to act anymore but to sing, is there to meet her "Prince for the Day". Both are shocked but still go their separate ways without much of a thought. Melanie is then mistaken for Minty and is taken to Minty's apartment. When Minty gets back She is told that she has already got her key and when she goes upstairs she finds Melanie in there. Melanie then gets an apartment above Minty's. Minty gets to quit "Ocean Beach" and have a singing career but she can't sing. Melanie is having a bad vacation and she hears about Minty's problem. Melanie, who can sing beautifully, decides to ask Minty to swap lives with her for a while. Minty agrees after a bit of persuasion and goes back to England as Melanie. When she gets there she meets Cameron, Melanie's next door neighbour who likes her, and falls for him. Back in Australia, Melanie falls for Shane, Minty's Co-actor that she doesn't like. Minty goes to Melanie's school and shocks all the teachers because Melanie was a pathetic student and Minty is a good one. Melanie goes to the recording studio and shocks everyone there because Minty can't sing a Melanie sings beautifully. Melanie's family is surprised as Minty actually tidies up and Melanie never did (they don't know they swapped). Gradually they get used to their new lives and loves and then Melanie's little brother gets a photo of them together and he gives it to Cameron. Cameron hints to Minty that he knows but Minty won't admit to anything because she doesn't know that he knows. Then he tells her he won't date someone who won't tell the truth and he walks out. She eventually tells him and he acts as if she is faking to pay her back. Eventually after a lot of swapping in between them (Melanie comes to England to do a play/concert as Minty) they finally have to swap back and return to their homes. Melanie's mum tells her that she is pregnant, her brother, who knew all along, says he prefers Minty, and Cameron is heartbroken because him and Minty got back together and now she is leaving so Melanie goes to the airport with Cameron and the two girls swap permanently.
