Gayatris feet moved to the masterful vocal direction of her esteemed Guru, Jyoti Rout herself during her performance.

Her Geeta Govinda and Draupadi pieces were flawlessly executed without any blemishes whatsoever. What stood out was her exquisite talent as a dance-actress, the modesty and even the reverence of her performing.

Her performance was sometimes rooted yet quick, displaying the flickering animation of the eyes, brows and mouth and the deftly expressive mudras of the Odissi tradition. Other times it was a flow of actions depicting a story that spanned the
stage from end to end. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for the spectators!

I have seen Gayatris dedication to dance for last 5 years. I have always wondered how you manage to be a professional, a mom, a wife and a dancer. It must be because there is an inherent passion towards dance. She has not only learnt/mastered dance but have been instrumental in coaching kids to excel in the same. Without her presence there will be a mini vaccuum created in Jyoti Kala Mandir. Her abhinaya comes naturally and wholesomely. You are creative in your choreography and come up with enjoyable unanticipated sequences.

I have known Gayatri a long time. Its given me immense pleasure in watching my friend's growth. It is showcased in the dances she performs and takes you on a journey of the story being told. Her passion and commitment are inspiring. I have seen her joy while dancing and she gives back by teaching others who want to start their own journey...

Gayatri is a graceful dancer with many years of dancing and performing experience. When I ask myself how she's unique as a dancer I remember her performing Dhraupadi.  I was truly moved.  It is a poignant story, but Gayatri conveyed Dhraupadi's emotions with a sensitivity that was beyond just good acting, watching her you felt Dhraupadi's desperation and isolation.  My eyes teared up, the gentleman in front of me wiped his eyes and I know most of the audience was moved as well.
>NayanTara, Odissi Dance Student, Berkeley, CA

Gayatri has been my "partner in dance" almost everytime I have danced on stage. Sometimes people call her my twin sister on stage, for our Guru almost always pairs us up in her choreography. Whenever I look across the stage at her in the middle of a group dance, she always lifts me up and inspires me to dance my best on stage. Her beaming smile, reminds me that we dance because it gives us joy from within our souls. As one of the most senior dancers in our school Gayatri gives her all to the art. Her dedication to Odissi is exemplified in the many sacrifices she makes to learn, teach and improve her art form while being a busy working professional, a loving mother and a busy housewife. She has inspired and trained many young Odissi dancers. Through the Oriya organization iGurukul that she helped pioneer, Gayatri tries to maintain this dance form and bring it to audiences of all ethnicities and cultures. She indeed brings pride to the cultural heritage of the State of Orissa. It is high time the festival presents yet another dedicated and devoted dancer that is native to Orissa. I wish her all the best.

I had never seen a Avinaya like the Draupadi's bastraharan" in my life. Gayatri did it so well. That itself shows that what you are capable of doing as a dancer.
>Mita Mohanty, Cupertino, CA

I have not seen a show like this from 1992. Gayatri kept the energy from beginning until end. Your Abhinaya was exceptional.
>Snigdha Nanda, Odissi Dance Student, Santa Clara, CA

I'm honored to be part of Gayatris RangaPuja.I liked the Draupadi piece the best. I felt that the music, her expressions all came together perfectly. I was even a bit misty eyed watching that. Great Show!
>Balaji Parthsarathi, Audience of Ranga Puja, San Mateo, CA

"Odissi dance is a wonderful narration of a spiritual theme with exclusive body movements, intricate "mudras" and expressive eye movements. It is a conglomeration of aesthetic and technical details. Gayatri has been truly successful in expressing her emotion in her graceful body movements and in her unique facial expressions. Gayatri is competent to explain her dance to her audience with authenticity and boldness. Her agility in dancing indicates her extensive power of vigor in portraying characters from Indian age old tradition.

She seems to attain her ultimate sense of freedom in her flawless body movements. It is quite impressive to realize how she translates her personal conviction in Iris's postures. It is a joy to see her merging with the character that she performs. Her expression changes smoothly with the shift in roles that she performs. In her dancing performances she retains her rhythm in her expression through her graceful body movements and her strong footwork.
