Ok, this is the news about the Geoclub field trip:
It looks like we can get six spaces in the Harvard Outing Club
cabin near Mt. Washington, I'll know that for sure by tomorrow morning. If
so, I think we will have a great time, starting Saturday morning at
8:30am, driving up to the White Mountains, doing some hiking, telling each
other stories at the camp fire, sharing a big room with many snoring
hikers, do some more hiking, and returning Sunday. The weather should be
perfect for hiking, lower 80s and partly cloudy.
The cabin itself is near Jackson, NH, which is 150 miles from
Boston, smack in the White Mountains which offer great scenery and hiking.
"As far as the facilities: The cabin has electricity, propane heat
and stoves, running water, a full kitchen, an outhouse, and a sleeping
loft. You will need to bring sleeping bags and pads. The cabin is near
Jackson, NH, on the way up to Mt. Washington. Official capacity (fire
code) is 15 people, but I have seen many more staying there."
Everyone will have to join the Harvard Outing Club to be allowed
to use the cabin. The fee is $10/year which gives you the opportunity to
check out their gear (tents, canoes, etc) and what not, I'd say a real
bargain. And you might put that on your resummee, too. [...]
Regards,
Thorsten
