Tying Instructions:

1. Tie in thread at hook point. Lay biots on either side of hook, wrap thread back to barb.

2. Tie in copper wire. Dub thread, wrap a tapered body up to lead. Wrap copper forward, tie off and trim.

3. Tie in hackle, approximately 1 - 2 sizes oversized. Tie in 3 - 4 turkey tail fibers.

4. Dub thread, wrap to one eye length behind head. Follow with hackle, tie off and trim.

5. Pull turkey fibers forward over abdomen, tie off, trim and secure.

6. Secure head and whip finsih. Cement, if desired.

Notes: For steelhead fishing, I use the same stonefly nymph, but omit the copper wire, and replace the turkey wingcase with metallic embroidery floss. Favorite colors are blue, purple, green and red.
