[Trailing Shuck BWO Comparadun]

Pattern Illustration
Trailing Shuck BWO Comparadun
Tied by Dennis VanHoose

Hook: #18-22 dry
Thread: Olive 8/0
Shuck: Brown Z-Lon
Body: Olive beaver dubbing
Wing: Deer hair (sparse)

Tying Instructions:

1. Tie in thread at eye, wind to 1/3 point.

2. Tie in deer hair, flaired.

3. Tie in Z-Lon, wind back to hook point.

4. Dub body.

5. Finish head and cement.

Notes: Tie this pattern sparsely, to ride low in the film. It's a great fly to use when olives are hatching, any time of year. It's the only fly I use on my home waters (Mad River) near West Liberty Ohio. Change the size, body color and shuck color for any mayfly that emerges and it's the only dry you'll need.
