[Cabin Adams]

Pattern Illustration
Cabin Adams
Tied by Padraic Farrell

Hook: #10-18 Standard Dry
Thread: Gray 8/0
Tail: Red floss
Body: Gray dubbing, coarse
Overwing: Squirrel tail (best from base of tail)
Wing: White hen neck
Hackle: Grizzly

Tying Instructions:

1. Tie in thread and wrap to 1/3 behind eye. Tie in floss tail, bind back to hook point.

2. Dub body.

3. Tie in squirrel so that fibers splay out over a 60 degree or so arc. Do not extend past hook bend.

4. Tie in hen neck wings. Lift to upright position and secure.

5. Tie in grizzly and hackle sparsely

Notes: This is a good pattern to tie sparse. It rides low, which makes the white wings a nice feature for the fisherman. I omit them for 18's though... too tough. It makes a very nice searching pattern and a good hatch buster. I'd bet in lighter colors it would do well through the late spring and early summer too.
