Hook: Mustad 94842 #12 - 16
Thread: Black 6/0
Body: Black dubbing
Wing: Tape wing gray hen hackle
Hackle: Grizzly or Dun

Wing Preparation:

1. Use clear packing tape. Lie tape flat on table, and apply hen feather face up. Press down hard. You can place several feathers on a single piece of tape.

2. Cut the wing shape 1/8" wide and 1/2" long, using the feather stem as a center point. Taper the bottom end to have a small post for tie in.

Tying Instructions:

1. Tie in thread and wrap to rear of hook. Dub thin black body to 3/16" back from eye.

2. Lay tape wing on fly, post at eye end of hook and secure.

3. Tie in hackle and wrap to front. Tie off and whip finish.

4. Trim wing to 1/8" behind hook bend and round off.

Notes: Fish the fly dead drift with a twitch, or skitter it on the swing.
