Tying Instructions: 1. Secure thread to hook at eye and wrap a base of thread along the shank from the eye to the bend. 2. Apply a small amount of head cement or CA glue along the thread base and advance the thread forward toward the hook eye stopping about the distance of one bead from the eye of the hook. Do this before the adhesive dries to allow it to soak into the thread wraps. 3. While waiting for the base to dry, select 4 strands of Pearl & 2 strands of Red Krystal Flash, about 3 times the length of the hook 4. After the adhesive has dried, tie in the bead chain using figure 8s. Apply a drop of CA glue to the wraps and allow to dry. 5. Invert the hook in the vise (point up) and double the Krystal Flash over the thread. Tie in the Krystal Flash in front of bead chain. 6. Whip finish and apply a drop of head cement. Notes: I like to cast this fly parallel to the edge of weed lines, letting it sink to the desired depth before beginning a very slow retrieve. |
