Tying Instructions: 1. Wrap hook with thread ending with the thread 1/8- 3/16" from head of hook. 2. Make a 2 1/2" dubbing loop and wax or use swix to help dubbing stick. Wrap thread to rear of hook above barb. 3. Use Zap-a-gap or other cement on body and wrap dubbing loop towards the rear and tie off. Use velcro to fluff up dubbing. 4. Tie on a couple of Grizzly feathers for the tail. 5. Cut strip of foam and make a cut at 50-60 degrees in the end. Use a pin or small nail to make a 45 degree hole at the angled end of the foam. 6. Start hole 3/16-5/16" from end. Push the foam on the hook through this hole. Add a drop of zap a gap behind foam at head and in rear where tail was tied off. 7. Bring foam body over back and tie off at tail area 8. Whip finish and add a drop of zap a gap or head cement. Trim off excess foam. 9. 9) Optional: glue small doll eyes to the sides of the bug. Notes: Use an open style knot for the best action. Work the fly fairly fast to get a good swim action. Don't forget to try other colors using white, Chartreuse, purple, blue and green. Some folks tie on some rubber legs in the front and back. |
