[Yaden's Water Walker]

Pattern Illustration
Yaden's Water Walker
Tied by Gary Yaden

Hook: Mustad 93303 Kinked Shank hook, size 10 -12
Thread: Danville's FlyMaster Plus, waxed Size A, black or to match body color.
Body: Closed cell foam, preferably BUBBA'S BETTER SPIDER and ANT BODY (pre-trimmed) or craft foam trimmed to a snowman ( =0=O=@= ) shape.
Legs: Living rubber hackle strips or silicon rubber strips tied in on top of the closed cell foam body and arched slightly upward.

Tying Instructions:

1. Tie in thread, wrap to rear.

2. Place foam on hook, tie down at bend.

3. Pull foam back over hook bend and wrap thread to 2/3 point.

4. Pull foam forward, bind down at 2/3 point.

5. Pull foam back over hook bend and wrap thread to 1/3 point.

6. Pull foam forward, bind down at 1/3 point.

7. Find the natural curve of the rubber (this can be accentuated by storing the strips curled up)

8. Place living rubber hackle strips on top of foam so that they curl away from the hook, and tie down.

9. Pull foam back, wrap thread to head.

10. Pull foam forward, wrap thread and tie off.

Notes: The pattern is pretty simple to tie, but it sure catches the fish if the legs are tied in correctly so they float on the water's surface while the body hangs slightly under the water's surface.
